Brain Stimulation and Impulsive Eating
Summary
Researchers at the University of Calgary Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research and Education are interested in using brain stimulation as a way of impacting food related impulsivity.
We are using a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called transcranial direct current stimulation and simple computerized tests. This study involves a single visit lasting approximately 3 hours.
Participants will receive a $15 gift card and be reimbursed for parking expenses for completion of the study.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 18 to 65
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
You may be eligible if you:
1) have a body mass index (BMI) >30
2) Are between the ages of 18-65
3) No major unstable medical issues
Exclusion criteria:
You are not eligible to participate if you have:
1) Past or current Gambling Disorder
2) Past or current Anorexia
3) Past or current Bulimia Nervosa
4) Visual impairments preventing performance of the neuropsychological tasks
5) Epilepsy
6) Traumatic Brain Injury
7) Stroke
8) Neurological disorders affecting motor function (Parkinsons, Huntington's, etc)
9) Previous participation in tDCS research/treatment
10) Anyone on anti-seizure medication
