Assessing Resilience and Coping in the Survivorship Experience of LGBTQ+ Cancer Survivors
Summary
This study aims to assess the cancer experience from the perspective of LGBTQ+ cancer survivors, with a focus on coping and resilience mechanisms. The study incorporates surveys about coping, resilience, and post-traumatic growth, with interviews about experiences in the cancer process and coping mechanisms used. The study will in total take about 2 hours of time, and allows LGBTQ+ survivors to share their experiences. This study will help to inform future directions about LGBTQ+ cancer survivorship and coping methods.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 18 to 100
Inclusion criteria:
1. Must be a cancer survivor who has recently (in the past 5 years) completed cancer treatment and has not had an incident of cancer reoccurrence. Any stage of cancer or cancer type is accepted.
2. Must identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Those with ‘Questioning’ identities are also be eligible.
3. Participants must also have access to a technological device, internet connection, and be able to read, write, and speak English.
