Apomorphine Effect on Pain in Parkinson's disease
Summary
Pain is a frequent symptom in Parkinson's disease. Pain is even present when medication is in effect. We hypothesize that apomorphine may be a safe, and useful treatment for patients with different pain subtypes in Parkinson's disease during off-times.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 18 to 70
Inclusion criteria:
- Patients with diagnosed Parkinson's disease
- Patients on antiparkinsonian medication and experiencing pain
- Patients who have not received apomorphine before or have not received any within the last six months
Exclusion criteria:
- Patients who can not report pain due to cognitive problems
- Patients associated with another medical condition, (e.g. any cardiovascular, renal or hepatic impairment, hematological or psychiatric diseases)
- Participants with poorly controlled orthostatic hypotension
