Alberta PrEP Cohort

Summary

The Alberta PrEP Cohort is looking to recruit eligible Alberta residents 18-years and older to gather real-world data on the behaviors of individuals at risk of HIV and the effectiveness of a daily pill used to prevent HIV transmission. PrEP stands for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis is a Health Canada approved daily pill (medication) taken to prevent HIV infection. Interested participants will be asked to complete a survey upon joining the study and every six months afterwards for two years. Particiants will need to see a licensed PrEP presciber to start the medication and every 3 months afterwards based upon the funding requirements set out by the Alberta Government. For those that qualify, the medication is free of charge. Persons looking to start or already on PrEP are eligible to join this study.
