After Oil & Gas— Stories on Energy Transitions in Alberta
Summary
When oil and gas end, what will the future of energy look like for Canada? How will these changes impact people's identity and their communities? In my project, I look at how this future may become.
In Southern Alberta, companies have started to harness sun and wind energy. Their projects have brought jobs and changes for the workers and communities. Some people have showed enthusiasm about this future, while others have voiced some concerns. They fear the impacts on their farming, their lifestyle and identity, and the aesthetic value of their lands. Through this project, my goal is to listen to as many stories from people working and living in the area. My aim is to gather a variety of views on energy in the province to grasp what Alberta's energy future can be.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 18 to 99
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
Women and men who are 1) 18 years of age or older; 2) anyone working in renewable energies; transitioning from oil & gas sector; or living/farming in Vulcan County area. 3) Able to read, write and speak English 4) wanting to share their stories and views on energy transition and their experienes on solar/wind farms in Alberta
