Welcome to my homepage!

There will be one PhD student position for the fall 2024. The deadline for contacting me is January 31, 2024.

As an applicant, please spend time to understand the research needs and directions of potential supervisors and question yourself your career direction. This will increase your chance to secure a student position you desire. Please do not send generic emails to everyone, which will waste your own time and the time of others.

My research requires a solid background in biomechanics or applied mechanics with strong expertise in mathematics and computational mechanics. A master degree in similar areas is required for a PhD position.

If you are interested in working with me, and only when I have an opening and your average GPA is 3.2/4.0 or above for both BSc and MSc programs, please email me a short CV that demonstrates your expertise and interest in mathematics and mechanics, including the use of softwares (e.g. MATLAB, SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, ABAQUS). Please also include the relevant courses you have taken. Do not send me a full cover letter at this time (a few lines are sufficient). Do not send me a long CV unless requested. I would appreciate your interest, but regret that I will not be able to support all excellent students. I wish you all the best with your academic career if you do not hear from me in two weeks. Apply for the admission in my group only if you are invited to do so.

Please note that I will not be able to answer any questions regarding application procedure and requirements. Such information should be available from the university or department webpages. Please contact the administration if further assistance is needed.

Thank you for your visit, and good luck with your search!

Please kindly note

  1. I do not have any grants to support internships for international undergraduate students. You are welcome to contact me if you have your own support for travel and living expenses.
  2. I regret that I am not able to respond to all general inquiries. I do read every single email addressed to me, and would contact you as soon as possible if I have an open position suitable for your training background.
  3. NO reminder emails please. Due to recent email abuse, e.g. one potential applicant sent me 17 identical emails in seconds, my email box has been set to remove those emails and block those email addresses. Regrettably, many potential students sent emails to the whole department without knowing the research directions of the email recipients at all.
