The Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR programs provide lifesaving first aid skills and knowledge. This blended learning course offers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Blended learning is a combination of in-class and interactive online instruction. This course meets the legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.
Participants will complete an online component before coming to the university to complete their in-person training.

Red Cross First Aid Instructor Recertification
The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Development Programs trains and certified Instructors to organize and deliver First Aid & CPR courses. Instructors are trained to apply an individualized approach focusing on injury prevention, elarning styles and a variety of instruction techniques that consider the abiliites, ages and needs of each participant.
The course allows current Red Cross First Aid Instructors to refresh their skills and extend their certification for another 3 years.
Babysitting Course
This course offers basic first aid and caregiving skills for youth 11-15 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families.
Red Cross First Aid Instructor
First Aid and CPR Instructors support the Red Cross First Aid Program through the delivery of First Aid and CPR courses. This course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills to teach Emergency and Standard First Aid, CPR/AED, Marine Basic First Aid, and Emergency and Standard Child Care First Aid. This program is designed to prepare you to support dynamic, learner-centered classroom environments. It includes how to teach and facilitate, individual and group assignments, practice teaching, injury prevention principles, inclusion, and progressive learning.
This course includes the first three steps involves in the pathway to becoming a certified First Aid & CPR Instructor. You must successfully complete each step before advancing to the next step.
1) Skills Evaluation
2a) Fundamentals of Instruction - Online Component
2b) Fundamentals of Instruction - Classroom Component
3) Discipline Specific Classroom Component
At the end of the course, the instruction will give you instructions on how to set up your final step of the certification process, the Teaching Experience.

First Aid and CPR Instructors support the Red Cross First Aid program through the delivery of First Aid and CPR courses. Red Cross Teaching Experience Supervisor
Building upon their existing Instructional skills, Teaching Experience Supervisor candidates will develop the skills required to support Red Cross First Aid Instructor candidates completing their Teaching Experience across all disciplines.
There are 2 steps involved in the pathway to becoming a certified Teaching Experience Supervisor. You must successfully complete each step before advancing to the next step.
1) Skills Evaluation
2a) Fundamentals of Instruction Online (2-4 hours)
2b) Fundamentals of Instruction Classroom
Once you have completed Steps 1 and 2, you are a certified Teaching Experience Supervisor. This certificicate remains current as long as your Instructor certification is current.
Basic Life Support (BLS) with Airways and Oxygen
The Canadian Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) teaches the recognition of, and initial treatment given by pre-hospital responders to a patient suffering from cardiac or respiratory arrest. This course includes Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy.

First Responder Recertification
The First Responder program teaches First Aid and CPR skills for professional first responders or those wanting to become first responders. This recertification course reviews techniques for sustaining life, preventing further injuries, and caring for illnesses and injuries until the next level of medical personnel arrives.
All participants are required to hold a current recognized First Responder certification.

Psychological First Aid
This Canadian Red Cross course equips learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief on others with an emphasis on self-care and personal protection. The course uses primarily case-based learning and teaches learners how to support themselves and others with the effcts of various kinds of stress.
Some online learning is required before the start of class.

Stay Safe!
The Stay Safe! program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills for youth 9-13 years old, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations.
