University of Calgary Calendar 2022-2023 Academic Regulations J. Student Appeals to the University Appeals Committee and University Appeals Tribunal J.1 Continued Registration While Under Appeal
J.1 Continued Registration While Under Appeal

A student appealing a suspension or expulsion may register for and attend classes, and participate in academic activities, pending the outcome of their appeal. Any restrictions levied as outlined in section 4.4 of the Student Academic Misconduct Procedures (ucalgary.ca/legal-services/sites/default/files/teams/1/Policies-Student-Academic-Misconduct-Procedure.pdf) will continue pending the outcome of an appeal, unless the relevant faculty determines that it would be appropriate to remove them sooner. This decision is in the sole discretion of the faculty and may not be appealed.

A student appealing an academic assessment or academic progression decision to the University Appeals Committee may register for and attend classes, and participate in academic activities, pending the outcome of their appeal. For specific faculty restrictions please refer to the faculty regulations sections of this Calendar.

Students appealing an academic progression matter to the University Appeals Tribunal are not permitted to remain registered.

If an appeal is unsuccessful the original date of suspension, required to withdraw or expulsion may take effect. If the appeal panel decides that the original date is appropriate for a suspension, required to withdraw or expulsion to take effect, the student will not receive credit for academic activities completed and tuition fees will be credited back to the student’s account. General fees cannot be credited back to the student account.

If the appeal is upheld, the student will remain registered.
