Courses constituting the field of Chemistry
Required Courses - Major Program

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 57 units to a maximum of 66 units in Courses Constituting the Field of Chemistry while fulfilling the following requirements:

6 units - Chemistry 201 or 211; and Chemistry 203 or 213

6 units - Physics 211 or 221 or 227; and 223

3 units - Mathematics 249 or 265 or 275

3 units - Mathematics 267 or 277

36 units - Chemistry 311, 315, 351, 353, 371, 373, 431, 433, 453, 471; 531 or 533; Biochemistry 341 or 393

6 units - From the Field of Chemistry at the 300 level or above

9 units - From the Field of Chemistry at the 500 level or above

3 units - Physics 323 or 355

3 units - Mathematics 211 or 213

3 units - Statistics 327 or 205

3 units - Science 311

15 units - Breadth Requirement: Options selected from faculties other than the Faculty of Science, excluding courses in Table I. Of these 15 units, at least 6 units must be from the Faculty of Arts.

15 units - Non-Major Field Requirement: Options that are not in the Field of Chemistry

Recommended Program Sequence for the BSc in Chemistry

There is a Recommended Course Sequence for this program. This sequence describes both the recommended order in which courses should be taken and the recommended course(s) in instances where multiple courses may fulfill a degree requirement. All possible courses that may fulfill degree requirements are found in the Required Courses listed above.

Taking courses in the order of the Recommended Course Sequence will ensure students can complete their program in a timely fashion. The time to complete a program may be lengthened if students choose to complete their requirements in an alternate order.

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 66 units to a maximum of 78 units in Courses Constituting the Field of Chemistry while fulfilling the following requirements:

6 units - Chemistry 201 or 211 and Chemistry 203 or 213

6 units - Physics 211 or 221 or 227; and 223

3 units - Mathematics 249 or 265 or 275

3 units - Mathematics 267 or 277

42 units - Chemistry 311, 315, 351, 353, 371, 373, 431, 433, 453, 471, 502; 531 or 533; Biochemistry 341 or 393

6 units - From the Field of Chemistry at the 300 level or above

12 units - From the Field of Chemistry at the 500 level or above

3 units - Physics 323 or 355

3 units - Mathematics 211 or 213

3 units - Statistics 327 or 205

3 units - Science 311
