4.45.2 BA Honours Philosophy

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.3.2 Honours Degrees.

B. MAJOR-FIELD WITH HONOURS REQUIREMENTS

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 60 units to a maximum of 72 units in Courses Constituting the Field of Philosophy while fulfilling the following requirements:

  1. Logic: 3 units Philosophy 279 or 377; and 3 units Philosophy 379.

  2. Core Courses: 6 units Philosophy 395, 397.

  3. Honours Seminar: 3 units Philosophy 597.

  4. Honours Thesis: 6 units Philosophy 590.

  5. Upper-Level Courses: An additional 24 units from Courses Constituting the Field of Philosophy at the 400 level or above.

  6. Philosophy Options: An additional 15 units from Courses Constituting the Field of Philosophy.

C. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Language Requirement: 6 units in a single language other than English.

D. DEGREE OPTIONS

The BA Honours in Philosophy can be taken with Co-operative Education. See section 3.3.8 Co-operative Education Programs for information and requirements.
