Summary of Changes for the 2021/22 Calendar
University of Calgary Calendar 2021-2022 Faculty of Arts 3. Faculty Regulations 3.4 Academic Review, Grades, and Student Standings
3.4 Academic Review, Grades, and Student Standings

See F.3 Academic Notations.

The academic performance of students registered in the Faculty is reviewed after each Winter term if they have completed 18 units or more at the University of Calgary since their previous review. Courses in which a student has taken the flexible grading option (Credit Granted/CG) will count toward the minimum units for academic review but will not be included in the GPA calculation. Normally students who have not completed 18 units since their previous review and are in good standing or on regular academic probation will retain that standing until their next review.

The Faculty of Arts reserves the right to review students’ academic standing at any time. The Associate Dean may permit a student to continue in program under specified conditions or require them to withdraw if specified conditions are not met. Students will be notified of these conditions in writing by the Associate Dean.

The GPA calculation for the academic review includes all University of Calgary courses completed since the previous review. Both grades for a course that is repeated in the same review period are used in the GPA calculation. Transfer credit is not considered in the calculation of the academic review.

Students placed on academic probation or required to withdraw as a result of an academic review will be notified in writing by the Associate Dean.
