Spine Study: Creating Normative Values of Alignment For Adult Scoliosis Correction
Summary
This study is trying to demonstrate relationships between the shape of the different sections of the spine in normal, healthy, young people. Volunteers will be asked to obtain a single image of their entire skeleton using low-dose radiation x-ray technology. From these images, alignment of each section of the spine will be measured to establish normative values. Little information is available as to what the normal range of these values is in the general population. The more information doctors have about what is normal, the more easily they can recognize and cure spine disease in the future.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 20 to 40
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
Young, healthy people between 20 and 40 years old are welcome to participate.
Exclusion criteria:
1. People who can't walk
2. People who don't speak English
3. People suffering from chronic diseases
4. People with known back problems or who have had back surgery
5. People who are pregnant
