The Intensive Care Unit Family Pain Education Study

Summary

The ICU Family Pain Education is looking to involve interested members of the public or close friends or family of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) in pain recognition. The study includes testing some educational material that will:
1) Inform you about pain in the intensive care unit
2) Teach you to use a pain assessment tool (Critical Care Pain Observation Tool or CPOT)
3) Have you practice using the CPOT with sample cases
This study will also collect feedback from you on the educational material.
We are looking for individuals like you to take part in this study. The time commitment for this study is approximately 1-1.5 hours in total. Your participation in the study can happen from the comfort of your own home. All you need is an internet connection and a web browser. You do not need to have any previous knowledge to take part in this study.

Eligible ages: 18 to 99

Accepts healthy participants: Yes

Inclusion criteria:

Seeking interested members of the public or family members/close friends of current ICU patients.
To participate, you must be:
1) 18 years of age or older
2) Able to communicate in English (reading, writing)
3) Able to interact with study team using a web-based platform (Microsoft Teams)
