Cross-modal emotion recognition in pre-schoolers.

Summary

How do we recognize emotions in other people? Part of understanding others’ emotions includes bringing together different cues. Cues can be someone's tone of voice or their facial expressions. Much of the research on how children develop this skill has looked at specific emotions. But, recent theories of emotion suggest that kids don't immediately recognize specific emotions. First, they develop the ability to tell positive emotions apart from negative ones. Our research will look at whether this is the case!
