Mohammad Asgari

Mohammad received his Ph.D. from CAPNA under supervision of Prof. U. Sundararaj at the University of Calgary in 2017. During his Ph.D., he worked on a variety of subjects such as polymer processing and synthesis of novel materials. Then, he joined MPML at the University of Toronto for more than a year as a postdoctoral fellow on the subjects of polymer processing, polymer blends, polymer fibrillations, and foams. In 2019, he joined the University of Alberta as his second fellowship working on the synthesis of carbon fibers from asphaltene precursors, which is an abundant natural resource in Alberta. After that, he started a job in Carbon Corp., a startup company in Calgary working on CO2 capture and transferring it to carbon nanotubes, and worked for more than a year. During the work in the Carbon Corp., he worked on subjects such as electrolysis, and cement and concrete-CNT nanocomposites. Mohammad has rejoined CAPNA in collaboration with a company based in Calgary. The focus of the company is scaling up a polymer-filler extrusion line to produce domestic polymer-floorings in Alberta. Mohammad has been working on creating the prototype in the aspects designing the die, calendaring rolls, thermal layer, cutter, etc. for the sheet-extrusion process. Additionally, he is performing a variety of tests and characterizations such as physical, mechanical, morphological, thermal, chemical, etc. to optimize formulations.
