Profile

Marcy Ryan’s research focuses on human-robot interaction and improving the capacity of robots work safely and effectively in human-centred environments. She is currently working on adaptive, force-based control to enable industrial robots to collaborate with humans. 

She completed her BSc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary where she worked as an undergraduate researcher to build and program a mobile robotic arm. Her capstone project involved designing and building retractable landing gear for a camera-equipped autonomous UAV. Marcy worked as an operations engineer before returning to the U of C to pursue a master’s degree.
