Dr. Lukas Spirig is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Calgary working at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, composite materials and aerospace structures. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich, where he developed novel manufacturing processes for thermoplastic composites in close collaboration with industry. His current research at the Laboratory of Engineering Materials focuses on continuous-fiber additive manufacturing, structural performance and the design of satellite and space structures.

In addition to his academic career, he interned at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart and taught as a ski instructor in the Swiss Alps.
