Profile
Haziq Sabri (He/Him) is an M.Sc. student developing a stereo Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system to experimentally characterize the stiffness properties of ornithopter wings. His research seeks to establish a rigorous alternative to time-intensive Finite Element Analysis by directly extracting the stiffness matrix of manufactured specimens through full-field deformation measurements. The resulting methodology will enable engineers to iterate rapidly on wing designs, tailoring structural performance to specific aircraft requirements with greater efficiency and experimental fidelity.
Haziq holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and has long been engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development. Since 2020, he has been an active member of Schulich UAV, contributing to the design and realization of competitive aircraft platforms. As Mechanical Lead in 2025, he guided the team to achieve the highest overall technical design score among 72 teams at the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) Competition, the world’s largest undergraduate UAV competition.
