Amanda Black

Amanda Black

Amanda Black is an assistant professor and certified athletic therapist trained in epidemiology and mixed methods research. She completed her specialized Honours BSc in Kinesiology and Health Science in 2009 and MSc in 2012 at York University as well as a PhD with a specialization in Sport Medicine at the University of Calgary in 2017.

Amanda is a member of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, O’Brien Institute for Public Health,  and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. Her research is applied with a focus primarily injury prevention, clinical intervention and implementation science. Her research in concussion spans across the spectrum of prevention with projects examining the epidemiology, diagnostic tools, and education to help manage concussion and tools to track recovery.

Her research interests include:  injury prevention, sports-related concussion management and education, injury surveillance methodology, behaviour change, evidence-based athletic therapy practices and protocols, knowledge translation, implementation science, evidence- based sports medicine and public health.


Christianne Laliberté Durish

Christianne Laliberté Durish

Dr. Durish is a Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinical Post-Doctoral Fellow at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). She completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Psychology at the University of Ottawa, and her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary.

Her clinical work is focused on neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents with various neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, epilepsy, brain tumour, brain injury), as well as psychotherapeutic intervention among children and adolescents with complex medical histories. Her research experience is in traumatic brain injury in children and adolescents, with a particular focus on examining the roles of cognitive reserve and psychological resilience in recovery from concussion.
