Public Realm and its Connections

The Public Realm contains a number of neighbourhood an city parks that have varying degrees of maintenance and utilization.  Generally the low maintenance areas have informal trails and act as a popular gathering space.  The highly maintained parks central to the neighbourhood are used for formal sports, but generally appear empty and barren.  City parks parallel to the Bow River are utilized by bike commuters and citizens outside the neighbourhood.  They are poorly connected to the community because of the barrier of Parkdale Boulevard.   Although roads connect the parks and community there is little incentive to move from one area to another by foot, bike or car
