Rafting Expedition: Teen Program

Go whitewater rafting and spend three days on one of the most popluar whitewater rivers close to Calgary! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, and navigation through rapids from an experienced raft guide. We'll be heading to the Red Deer River for our whitewater excitement. Note: river choice is subject to change based on water levels at the time.

Have you ever been interested in exploring our city from the Bow River, but weren't sure how to get started? The Outdoor Center is a leader in raft rentals and we are offering this Free info session to help promote and educate people about river safety. Our Certified paddling guide will answer all your questions. the info session will be at the Outdoor Center. Please register in advance by calling 403.220.5038

Self-Guided Bow River Floats

See Calgary from the Bow! Book a raft for your family or group and we will meet you with all the gear at Baker Park. Then we'll pick you up at Shouldice Park to give you a lift back to your car. This is a family friendly float.

Wild Cat Gas Plant to Cochrane

Join us for a Gorgeaous afternoon paddle down the Bow River from the Wild Cat Gas Plant all the way to Cochrane. This 15km guided trip is a classic river run just outside of the city, and provides minor rapids which are all navigable or easily avoided.

Wild Cat Island

This is a great introduction to overnight paddling adventures. We will start below the Ghost Dam and paddle to Wild Cat island, where we can hang out and enjoy camp. The next day we will continue down to the town of Cochrane.

Intro to Pack Pack Rafting

Want a new way to explore the wilderness? Our pack rafts are 1-man inflatable kayaks weighing just 5 lbs! An experienced guide will teach you the basics of paddling a pack raft on the Bow River to get you feeling comfortable paddling on your own.

Brazeau River, AB

Hiking, paddling and camping all in one trip! The Brazeau River winds its way through steep rock walls and provides great places to play in the waves. We drive out camp-Friday evening, then on Saturday we hike to the put-in and paddle back down to camp. Saturday night can be spent in camp or you can head back into the city after the paddle.

Bow River, AB

This trip is the perfect introduction to overnight tripping for families or any one who wants to learn the basics of wilderness camping. We float the scenic stretch of the Bow River from Fish Creek Park to Carseland through picturesque prairie and woodland landscape.

Kootenay River, BC

The Kootenay is a renowned stretch of river that has a lot to offer rafters, including exhilarating whitewater, senic canyons spectacular mountain vistas and wildlife sighting opportunities. This is a 2.5 day trip that is great to do with a group of friends or family, and can be done in a raft or river kayak.  

North Saskatchewan River, AB

The North Saskatchewan is a classic Alberta river trip! This stretch of river has so much to offer - fun waves, deep canyon walls, incredible scenery and great camping. We start out at Saunders Ledge Friday evening and end the trip at Rocky Mountain House Sunday afternoon. You can choose to skip the big features or hit all the big waves, and can be done in a raft or river kayak.

Self-Guided Weekend Bow River Floats

For those who want a more extended trip on Saturday or Sunday. Book a raft for your family or group and a trained guide will meet you at the Shouldice boat launch with all the gear you need for a great day on the river! Our guide will cover safety and go over some rafting basics, then meet you at the Zoo bridge to drive you back up to your car. This is a family-friendly float.

Custom Rafting Floats

Let us take you on a float trip on different sections of the Bow River. We will provide an experienced raft instructor to teach you the basics of how to paddle a raft and how to identify the real hazards. You have the choice to relax and float or to learn about rescues, obstacle avoidance and picking the safest river channels. Prices do not include transportation but is available. Minimum payment is for 5 people. Flexibility is our specialty, We can tailor rafting trips to your groups needs! Please give 2 weeks notice for custom trips.

Custom Whitewater Rafting

Get your group out on the whitewater of the Upper Red Deer River near Sundre! This river has exciting class 2/3 rapids with lots of waves and exciting drops at Gooseberry ledge, Jimbo's staircase and the S bend. We can help set up a custom trip—anything from fully-guided to just shuttle service between the put-in and the take-out. Please book 2 weeks in advance.
