Climb On Outdoors: Teen Programs

We have two levels of teen outdoor climbing programs this summer.
101 spends the first day inside on the climbing and bouldering walls learning the basics.  On the last 2 days, you will climb popular beginner routes in and around Kananaskis Country.
201 spends all three days in the mountains rock climbing.
Both programs are instructed by ACMG guides.

Mountain Biking Expedition: Teen Program

Kananaskis has some of the best mountain bike terrain in the world! Whether you are new to the sport or keen to develop your skills, you will have the time of your life! Through a combination of cross-country and freeride skill development, you will learn about and practice body positioning, gearing, cornering, and maneuvering on trails. Trail selection, bike maintenance, and outdoor skills are also introduced. This expedtion is operated out of a base campsite where riders return each night.

Rafting Expedition: Teen Program

Go whitewater rafting and spend three days on one of the most popluar whitewater rivers close to Calgary! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, and navigation through rapids from an experienced raft guide. We'll be heading to the Red Deer River for our whitewater excitement. Note: river choice is subject to change based on water levels at the time.

Soar and More: Teen Program

Interested in flying? Learn about the exciting world of windsports including hang gliding, paragliding, and traction kiting. Through classroom and practical instruction, participants learn the basics of how to fly each of these crafts. the amount of time spent on each activity is wind-dependant and participants must be at least 5 feet tall and weigh 90 pounds. No experience necessary.

Keiki Longboard

Get outside and ride the city’s pathways on a longboard this summer! All levels will go on rides to visit cool Calgary locations and participate in games and activities such as swimming. Instructors will put an emphasis on safety, etiquette, the rules of the pathway, and equipment maintenance. Two levels run each week and will operate in part together. Groups will be divided up based on ability when necessary

101 is for new riders (very limited to no riding time)
201 is for riders (longboard/skateboard) who have taken 101 or are comfortable on a longboard and are capable of pushing, and making turns   
301 is for competent riders who have taken 201 or are comfortable with pushing, breaking, and turns and eager to learn new skills. 

Note: we have a class set of longboards, elbow and knee pads, and helmets. They are available to riders to use for the week. These boards can purchased at the end of camp as well (based on availabilty). Protective gloves are required.

Backpacking Expeditions: Teen Programs

We have two backpacking trips running this summer. 101 is a three day introduction to backpacking and 201 is a five day extended expedition for those who want a challenge! Please look at the individual events for more information and prerequisites.

Canoeing Expeditions: Teen Programs

We have two canoe trips running this summer. 101 is a three day adventure on the Red Deer River upstream of Drumheller, Alberta and 201 is a five day extended expedition on the North Saskatchewan River near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. See specific events for more information and prerequisites.

Canoeing Expedition 201 used to be call Teen North Sask Extended Expedition.

Dinos Basketball Camps

The Dinos Basketball Camps are the perfect place to improve your skills, get active and compete against other players around Calgary. Participants will learn basketball fundamentals and techniques, conditioning methods and team-play tactics.

Programming Notes:

A Senior Girls Basketball Camp will take place from July 17-20, 2017 in the Red Gym at the University of Calgary (S17YDBG201).  It will be open for Girls from Grade 9-12, and there will be 50 spots available!  The cost of this camp will be $200 and will run from 6pm-9pm from Monday to Thursday.  Registration for this camp will be open on May 1, 2017.

A Boys and Girls Shooting Camp will take place on July 22 and 23, 2017 in the Jack Simpson Gym at the University of Calgary (S17YDBS100).  It will be open for Boys and Girls from Grade 6 to Grade 12 and will cost $125.  The camp will run from 9am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Registration for this camp will be open on May 1, 2017.

Dinos Fencing Competitive Training Camp

The 2016 Dinos Fencing Competitive Training Camps are starting on February 20th and we have a lot to offer! The camps are open to everyone of all skill levels. We will be focusing on conditioning, footwork, bouting, and tactics. Foil and epee in both dry and electric will be offered. Participants will be required to bring their own equipment. Minimum age is 14yrs. However, anyone younger can attend upon approval of the area programmers and coaches.

Paricipants will have to bring thier own lunch, or time will be provided to go to the food court on campus.

Dinos Football Camps

The primary goal of this skills camp is to instruct the fundamentals of football in a safe, fun, and rewarding environment. All participants will receive individual skill analysis, instruction and coaching.

The Sr. Football Camp is now being offered as a 4 Day Camp from August 3-6, 2017.  The price has been reflected in this upon registration.

Dinos Quarterback Skills Camp

For the first time the Dinos Football Program will be hosting a Quarterback Skills Camp at McMahon Stadium on July 15-16 (S17YDFB404).  This unique football camp will provide position specific coaching to help develop quarterbacks and allow them to excel at their position as they continue to enjoy the great game of football with their current teams.  Led by the Dinos Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach Ryan Sheahan, quarterbacks attending this camp will be coached and drilled to improve footwork, accuracy, pocket management, throwing mechanics, defeating defensive coverages, and strength & conditioning.  With a combination of field skill work with Dinos football players & assistants, as well as classroom work on the whiteboard and game film review; this quarterback camp will serve as the perfect tool to help young athletes excel at one of the toughest positions in all of sports. 
Quarterbacks who excel at this camp will be offered a unique reward as well.  They will be invited to attend the Dinos Football High School camp in August at no charge!  The August camp will be by “invite only” for Quarterbacks this year; so what a great opportunity to come and showcase your skills!

Dinos Track & Field Camps

Stand on the podium this year by enrolling in a Dinos Summer Track & Field Camp! Participants will be challenged both mentally and physically through many skill-specific drills in an competitive and encouraging environment, while training with other local athletes. Participants will experience first class coaching from the 2013 Women's CIS National Champions and consistently ranked Men's track team. This is the place to be if you want to pursue Track & Field at a higher level!

Dinos Volleyball Camps

You’ll get in shape for the volleyball season with jump training and strength sessions, advanced team play and tactics as well as development of your individual skills. Off the court, you’ll improve your fitness level and get nutrition strategies for peak performance.

Get into Kayaking: Teen Program

Learn to Kayak in this 3-day beginner teen day camp. An introductory pool class gets you warmed up for an afternoon of skill development on the river. Then, off to the Bow River for a day of moving water skills. Finish off with a tase of whitewater on a full day run from Ghost Dam to Cochrane (west of Calgary). Prerequisite: The ability to swim 50 m
