A. Intro to Lake Canoeing

You'll learn the basics in this beginner flatwater canoeing lesson that takes place at Bowness Park.  Learn how to track straight lines, turn, brace and how to control your canoe and work together with your partner. We will enjoy paddling in the shelter of the lagoon and down the canal.  Prerequisite: none. Includes: instructor, all canoe gear.

B. Intro to River Canoeing

Build on your flatwater canoeing skills and take them to the Bow River. Join us at Bowness Park where you will learn the skills to safely navigate moving water. You will learn how to do eddy turns and forward ferries in order to increase your confidence on the river. Prerequisite: Canoeing A or equivalent experience. Includes: instructor, all canoe gear.

Guided Day Hikes

Join us for a day of group hiking in the Bow Valley, Kananaskis Country and beyond with an experienced guide. Enjoy spring flowers, ridgetop views, pristine lakes, alpine meadows and fall colours while learning about local ecology, pacing, travel skills, map reading, group safety and more. Trips are available for all fitness levels and interests. Prerequisite: none. Includes: guide. Some trips include van transportation.

Fly Fishing Intro

Whether you're new to fishing, or have experience spin casting, this day trip will give you a chance to try out the art of fly fishing at a beautiful mountain destination. You will learn the basics—like setting up the rod, to finding the best spots to fish. Then you’ll learn how to cast under the watchful eye of our experienced guide. Prerequisite: valid Alberta Sportfishing License. Includes: guide/instructor, fishing gear.

A. Recreational Kayaking - Intro to Lake

Recreational kayaks are stable boats designed for casual paddling on calm water—perfect for newbies. Join us for a 2.5-hour session at Bowness Park and learn the basic strokes you need to enjoy a short tour. Prerequisite: none. Includes: instructor, all kayaking gear.

Swiftwater Rescue 1

The dynamic environment of moving water must be treated with respect, especially when adrenaline is running high during the coordination of a rescue. This 1-day course offers a combination of theoretical and practical skill development with certification by Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine. Prerequisite: standard first aid, ability to swim 50m. Includes: instructor, safety gear.

Swiftwater Rescue 2

Learn how to be an asset in a rescue situation with this 1-day course that builds on the rescue principles learned in Swiftwater Rescue 1. Certification is provided by Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine. Prerequisite: Swiftwater Rescue 1. Includes: instructor, safety gear.
