Recreational Kayaking

Recreational kayaking is perfect for those who like to paddle on calm lakes and slow-moving streams. Our lessons are a perfect way to get into kayaking.

A. Recreational Kayaking - Intro to Lake

Recreational kayaks are stable boats designed for casual paddling on calm water—perfect for newbies. Join us for a 2.5-hour session at Bowness Park and learn the basic strokes you need to enjoy a short tour. Prerequisite: none. Includes: instructor, all kayaking gear.

B. Recreational Kayaking - Easy Rivers Intro

Learn basic river maneuvers and safety in this 2.5-hour session while paddling at Baker or Carburn Park. You'll gain the confidence to navigate easy rivers in your recreational kayak. Prerequisite: Recreational Kayaking A. Includes: instructor, all kayaking gear.

Paddle Fitness

This is a smart, fun fitness program in a recreational kayak designed to give you a great core workout. We'll meet in the evening, once a week for five weeks, and work on strength, balance, endurance and injury prevention. With both on-water and dryland fitness components, this program is sure to improve your strength and paddling skills. Prerequisite: Recreational Kayaking A or equivalent experience. Includes: instructor, all kayaking gear.

Fun Paddle

We’ll bring the boats! Our Fun Paddles at Glenmore Reservoir make it easy to get out on the water and keep active. An instructor will help you launch a boat and give some quick pointers to get you paddling. The session is 2.5 hours but advanced registration is required so we can get the boats organized. Beginners welcome. Prerequisite: none. Includes: instructor, all kayaking gear.
