University of Calgary Calendar 2009-2010 Faculty of Kinesiology 4. Program Details 4.2 Specific Program Requirements 4.2.9 Combined BKin (General)/BN Program
4.2.9 Combined BKin (General)/BN Program
Introduction Until Fall 2009 the Faculty of Kinesiology with the Faculty of Nursing offers a five-year combined Bachelor of Kinesiology (General)/Bachelor of Nursing degree program. The program requires careful selection of courses to complete all requirements of the two Faculties. Interested students are urged to contact the Student Programs Office in Kinesiology and the Student Advising Office in Nursing for advice in choosing their first-year courses.
Admission

Applicants to the combined BKin/BN program must satisfy the admission requirements of both Faculties and will normally first enter the Faculty of Kinesiology. Admission to Kinesiology will be based on the admission requirements previously outlined. After successful completion of at least eight half-course equivalents, including Biology 231 and Kinesiology 261, students should apply to the Faculty of Nursing to pursue the combined degree program. At the point of admission to the combined degree program, students will be administered by the Faculty of Nursing. Therefore, entrants into the combined program must meet the transfer admission criteria that apply to the Bachelor of Nursing Regular Track program.

Requirements

Once accepted to the combined program, students may elect to remain in it or switch to either of the two separate degree programs, as long as the requirements of each Faculty continue to be met. Failure to meet requirements will result in a student being required to withdraw from the combined or separate programs.

Students must satisfy the graduation requirements of both Faculties. Program details are listed in the Faculty of Nursing section of this Calendar.
