How to Setup a New Wizard Template in the Shell

• Command lists relate to wizard lists in our system, we try to keep the two in line with one another although there is nothing in the system to maintain or enforce this.

• So, when a new command or wizard is needed for staff, the command list is modified and then, all people who have that old command list in their UACS (user access records) will be updated to have the new wizard too. Doing this in the shell is faster and has less chance of human error, I believe.

• The user's email (used as the User Access Name) is linked to their list of wizards as follows:
  • In the Config/admin file resides the UACS section which gives the user access name and number. Grep for the target user's name and read the fishbones:

    User access label|Number of this User access which relates to the wizard file number|Name (email)|Command list number|...etc.

  • The related command list is also in the admin file and begins with CMDL (for command list) and carries the number in the second field which is the 4th number in the UACS line. The name is again in the 4th field and then in the 5th field is all the COMMAND CODES that the command list allows, these are 2 character combos.

• Once you have the number of the wizard file from the 2nd field in the appropriate UACS line you can go to /Workflows/Access directory and find this file. If the User Access record was created in CHUI, then there will be no file yet, so you have to use WorkFlows to create the new list of allowed wizards for this person.
• These wizard files all have the same look, as in: ACCESSLIST.##, where the ## is the number from field two of the related line in admin for the appropriate UACS. For example, from the line above for UACS|25|LAL|17..., the ACCESSLIST.25 would be the related wizard access list file.

• If a new command list was made for this example user LAL, then ACCESSLIST.25 would be a new wizard template file which I would simply do the following steps on to keep it archived:
  • cat ACCESSLIST.17 | sort > ACCESSLIST.newcommandname2001
  • I have named the templates by their command list name followed by the version I updated them to.
• Now, I have a template, the next time the manager asks me to create a new user(s) who emulates LAL, I can simply cp ACCESSLIST.newcommandname2001 over the appropriate newly created ACCESSLIST.##.

• Also, this allows one to update many people quickly if a new wizard is introduced and all the staff in bib.services (for example) require it. You can simply copy the newly updated ACCESSLIST.template over all the appropriate ACCESSLIST.##.

• Programs written to help decide which UACS's have which CMDL are in /NDL
  • uacscmdl.ksh will list all UACS and their CMDL along with the wizard file number and property file. Details of this program. Sample output:

  • unusedcmdl.ksh will list into output file all CMDL's not used by any user access policy. Sample output:
