WHY INCLUDE ENVIRONMENT?

  • Must not compromise or hinder effotrs to meet international and domestic environmental obligations
  • Consistent with principles established in NAFTA/NAAEC/CEC, Chile negotiations
  • Improve environmental management makes good economic sense for public and private sectors
  • no new policies - examine participants' other environmental obligations (international agreements, voluntary systems, other trade agreements)
