DEVELOPING INFORMATION DELIVERY STRATEGIES: Disseminating Data | |
How can we design
a training process that will effectively reach all of the concerned residents
in a proposed eco-community? Once we have identified who we are designing
an educational process for, and what information must be exchanged, we can
begin to examine our approach to data transfer. How do
we bridge the gap between present practices and future goals?
Three key levels of education must be considered: Hook and reel: Our first step should be introducing the eco-neighbourhood concept and "selling" the idea to the community members. How can we motivate these members to actively participate in this proposal? What are the best approaches to reach the target audience? Individual Empowerment: The next step is to provide knowledge and tools necessary for individuals to understand that they can make a difference. Small steps can have a large impact. Community Barn-Raising: Once individuals understand their full potential within the eco-neighbourhood, organized community efforts to create or modify common areas and buildings provide both social networking and demonstration opportunities. Positive reinforcement of this concept results from proof of feasibility of the project. Next |
