U magazine a CCAE winnerU magazine has won two awards in the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education's 2008 Prix D'Excellence Awards, to be presented on June 9 in Kelowna at CCAE's annual conference. It won the grand gold prize for best photo for the portrait shot by Ewan Nicholson of environmental science student Laura Hickman in the Fall 2007 Earth Issue. U magazine also won a bronze in the Best Magazine category. |

Central High School holds 100-year reunionAugust 23: Alumni and teachers of Central High School are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Calgary's first purpose-built high school with a reunion on Aug. 23, 2008. Central High sent many graduates to the U of C in the earliest years of the university. Known as Calgary Collegiate Institute until the 1920s, it opened in September 1908 with 120 students and four teachers.
