Calgary’s Poet Laureate, Dr. Derek Beaulieu, and Assistant Professor of French, Dr. Jean-Jacques Poucel, will present and lead a discussion about two visually beautiful poems in the Taylor Family Digital Library Visualization Studio (TDFL466b), Tuesday, 3 February, 12:00-1:00pm. Both poems, Blaise Cendrars and Sonia Delaunay’s “La prose du transsibérien” and Derek Beaulieu’s response, “Prose of the Trans-Canada,” represent artistic representations of rapidly shifting modernity. Come see how. Staged as part of Professor Poucel’s seminar on “Modern and Contemporary Poetics,” this show and tell discussion is open to the public, sponsored by the Department of French, Italian and Spanish, and supported by the Taylor Family Digital Library.
