My GradSkills Workshops Matrix

Wondering what workshops are endorsed by My GradSkills?

Take a look at the My GradSkills Workshop Matrix (PDF) to see what types of workshops are available and when in your graduate program you should consider taking them.

Skill Areas

Workshops are categorized into four key skill areas to help you describe your transferable skills. When you finish your graduate program and are looking for a job, these key skill areas may be helpful language for you to use. The skill areas are:

  • Expert
  • Communicator
  • Leader
  • Innovator

See the My GradSkills Workshop Matrix (PDF) for descriptions of each skill area.

Workshop Timeline

The number of workshops available can be overwhelming. How do you decide when a workshop is most useful?

The My GradSkills Matrix categorizes workshops as Early, Mid, and Late to help you decide when in your program a workshop may be most useful for you. This doesn't mean you can't take an early workshop late in your program or a late workshop early in your program, but it can help you understand when the facilitators of the workshop think it will be most helpful for you.

All My GradSkills-endorsed workshops are optional. They are offered free of charge to all registered graduate students at the University of Calgary. My Gradskills-endorsed workshops are a selection of offerings at the University of Calgary tailored to graduate student needs and endorsed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies in recognition of clear learning outcomes and graduate student specific content. Workshops are coordinated and facilitated by My GradSkills Partners from across the University. More quality workshops and resources are available on campus.
