Dr. Orly Yadid-Pecht received her B.Sc. from the Electrical Engineering Department at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. She completed her M.Sc. in 1990 and her D.Sc. in 1995, respectively, also at the Technion. She was a National Research Council (USA) research fellow from 1995-1997 in the areas of Advanced Image Sensors at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/ California Institute of Technology (Caltech). In 1997 she joined Ben-Gurion University in Israel, as a member in the Electrical and Electro-Optical Engineering departments. There she founded the VLSI Systems Center, specializing in CMOS Image Sensors. Since 2009 she is the iCORE Professor of Integrated Sensors, Intelligent Systems (ISIS) at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Dr. Yadid-Pecht’s main subject of interest is Integrated CMOS Sensors. She is interested in compact low power Micro and Nano-Systems mainly for Bio-Medical applications (but not exclusively). She works on “Smart” Image Sensors, Silicon Photonics and advanced materials in Photonics and MEMs. She has published over a hundred papers, holds more than two dozen patents, and has led over a dozen research projects supported by government and industry. Her work has over a thousand external citations and she has an H-index of 23. In addition, she has co-authored and co-edited the first book on CMOS Image Sensors: “CMOS Imaging: From Photo-transduction to Image Processing”, published in 2004. She is also a director on the board of two companies.
Dr. Yadid-Pecht has served as the VP Publications of the IEEE Sensors Council between 2010-2011. She was also an Associate Editor for the IEEE Trans. on VLSI journal and Deputy Editor in Chief for the IEEE Trans. on CAS-I journal. She has served on the CAS BoG in 2003-2004. Currently, she serves as a Senior Associate Editor for the IEEE Sensors Journal. She is a member of the IEEE CAS Nanoelectronics and Giga scale system committee and the Sensory Systems committee which she chaired during 2003-2004. Dr. Yadid-Pecht was an IEEE distinguished lecturer of the Circuits and Systems Society in 2005-2006. She was also the general chair of the IEEE International Conference on Electronic Circuits and Systems (ICECS) and a current member of the steering committee of this conference. Dr. Yadid-Pecht is also an IEEE Fellow.
