Biography

Kaylee joined the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, at the University of Calgary as a MSc student in September 2017. Kaylee started her BSc at the University of Regina then transferred to the University of Calgary where she obtained her BSc, First Class Honours in cellular, molecular and microbiology. Before attending university, she worked as a primary care paramedic in Saskatchewan which sparked her interest in infectious diseases.

Working under the supervision of Dr. James Wasmuth, Kaylee’s project is entitled: “A genomic approach for identifying genes involved in parasitic nematode hematophagy” in which she is analyzing nematode genomes to identify and compare genes required for parasitic blood-feeding.
