Biography

Blanca joined the HPI group as a Post-doctoral Fellow in July 2019. She is working under the supervision of Dr. Derek McKay in the Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Gastrointestinal Sciences at the University of Calgary.  Blanca received her Ph.D., Biomedical Sciences in Inflammation, cancer and immune parasitology at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), FES-Iztacala.

Blanca will be studying Interleukin-4 activated macrophages (M(Il4)) for the treatment of IBD. She will analyze M(IL4)’s differentiated from blood monocytes of healthy individuals and patients with IBD, and evaluate introduction of M(IL4) as immunotherapy for IBD.
