About Us

Meet You Downtown

At the University of Calgary Downtown Campus, we are a vibrant intellectual hub in the city’s core that

  • supports leading edge Canadian and international research (particularly in the field of Public Policy);
  • enriches the learning experience for our graduate and continuing education students;
  • strengthens the connection the University has with various industries, associations, partners, and communities that we both lead and serve; and
  • showcases the achievements of the University to our downtown community stakeholders.

The University of Calgary Downtown Campus is conveniently located in Calgary’s emerging west village, on the corner of 8th Avenue and 8th Street SW and within ½ block of the Calgary LRT line.  Bike and pedestrian lanes are adjacent to the campus and parking is plentiful in the area.  Strategically, the campus is in close proximity to the heart of corporate Calgary and near to the many residents who call downtown home.

We’re home to a wide range of graduate and lifelong learning programs offered by the School of Public Policy, and University of Calgary Continuing Education.  These programs will help you to advance your career, learn new leadership skills, or extend your personal development.

Other programs delivered from the Downtown Campus include University of Alberta Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine programs in physical and occupational therapy.  This partnership with the U of A makes academic programs available to Calgary students who would otherwise have to study out of the geographic area.

Whether you are hosting a small group meeting, a large town hall, a conference for a few hundred, or even a wedding, the Downtown Campus has a variety of space (some with natural light); an onsite coffee shop; professional customized catering; and full service audio-visual support.  In fact, our main event hall has the capacity to host up to 300 people.

The campus occupies nearly 150,000 square feet on seven floors.  Our rentable spaces include board rooms, meeting rooms, event spaces and atriums, a computer lab, and, of course, fully equipped classrooms.  Most rooms have flexible configurations and built-in computers and projectors – let our event planning team know what you envision for set up and we will work with you to make this a reality.

We are able to accommodate your events seven days a week – and at a budget that is one of the most affordable in downtown Calgary.  Our pricing for event and classroom space is offered in half-day increments, while our meeting rooms are offered on an hourly basis.

If you are looking to make multiple bookings at the Downtown Campus throughout the year, ask us about a Master Rental Agreement to make booking your space seamless.

The Downtown Campus welcomes registered charities and offers exclusive pricing for those who are able to provide a registered charitable number.  A 20% discount is also extended to our University of Calgary Alumni members by providing a University identification number at the time of booking.
