Have an interest in learning more about working out? Want to meet new people at UCalgary with similar goals and interests? IGNITE buddies you with other undergraduate students to provide free small group training sessions, as well as the opportunity to learn more about nutrition and mindfulness.

The Ignite Program
Participants in IGNITE will be buddied with other undergraduate students, and over the course of 7 weeks get the opportunity to have three free small group training sessions with those they are paired with, as well as a free fitness class and workshops on nutrition and mindfulness.
Participants must attend an initial orientation meeting, and all small group training sessions are mandatory.
Applications for winter 2023 will close Jan. 29, 2023. Participants selected will be emailed by the program coordinator by Feb. 3, 2023. To apply for IGNITE, please use the link below.

No, IGNITE is sponsored by SU Quality money and is free for undergraduate students from the University of Calgary.
No! Any level of experience is welcomed. We will determine on your application your level of experience which will help us place you in a small training group.
For small group training and fitness class, you will be working out with about 10-12 people and a personal trainer. For the workshops, the group will be larger.
Matching of people in each small group training will be done by the program coordinator utilizing questions on the application. Some factors will be: student availability for the four different training times; workout experience; and goals and priorities.
You will be assigned a time for small group training that will be the same for each of the three weeks. The available times are: Tuesdays, 8-9 a.m.; Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m.; Saturdays, 10-11 a.m.
The mandatory orientation meeting with be on February 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The fitness class and workshops will be held in the evenings, days and times to be determined.
