Sea of Blue: UCalgary community engages with thousands for Bell Let's Talk Day

Canadawide initiative raises almost $7 million to help end the stigma around mental illness

Students, faculty and staff at the University of Calgary stepped up to end the stigma around mental illness on Wednesday as part of Bell Let’s Talk Day.

Teams of volunteers helped to spread the word about the initiative with giveaways and photo booths across campus, and groups such as UFlourish, WellBeing and Worklife, SU Wellness Centre, and the Women’s Resource Centre presented informative talks and workshops.

UCalgary's Twitter, Instagram and Facebook channels reached a total of 63,663 people. Missed the content? See some of our new videos on YouTube.

Bell’s donation of five cents towards mental health initiatives in Canada, by counting every text, call, tweet, Instagram post, Facebook video view and Snapchat geofilter, totalled over 138 million interactions, raising almost $7 million.

UCalgary is building a community of caring through our Campus Mental health Strategy and looks forward to future events to reduce stigma and realize our full potential.
