Students now have a new way to build schedules before registering in courses

Easy-to-use Schedule Builder tool allows students to visualize their timetables online

Continuing students will have an easier time scheduling their courses this year. On March 6, the new and exciting Schedule Builder tool became available in the University of Calgary’s Student Centre.

“We’re so pleased to be able to provide Schedule Builder to our students. We’re moving away from a manual worksheet to an online tool, where students will now be able to visualize timetable options available for their selected courses,” says Angelique Saweczko, registrar.

“Students will be able to search by course number, course title or instructor name and the tool will show information about the course, pre- or co-requisites, anti-requisites, or other enrolment restrictions. We’re recommending that students meet with their faculty or program advisor to confirm their course selection before using the tool.”

Schedule Builder creates optimal timetables, which students can use to complete the course registration process in their Student Centre. The second phase of the project will add new features to fully integrate the tool into the registration process.

“Schedule Builder is a great new tool that makes planning and scheduling classes easier,” says third-year finance student Abbas Madni.

“I’ve been able to easily navigate the tool and have been able to generate schedules that fit my particular needs. I’d recommend students try it out — they just need to make sure they know in advance what courses they want to take."
