Do you know a student, group, faculty member or staff member doing outstanding work to advance sustainability on campus? If so, nominate them for a University of Calgary Sustainability Award. You can also nominate yourself.
In their ninth year, the University of Calgary Sustainability Awards recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions and co-operative efforts of students, faculty and staff in advancing our institutional commitment to excellence and leadership in sustainability; a journey where all campus members can make tangible contributions.
Six award categories are available to honour and recognize the broad and integrative approach UCalgary takes to sustainability and how students, faculty and staff are contributing to the goals of our Institutional Sustainability Strategy.
The categories are:
- Student Leadership Award
- Student Club Leadership Award
- Teaching Leadership Award
- Staff Leadership Award
- Campus as a Learning-Laboratory Project Award
- Research Award – Community as a Learning Partner
Nominees are evaluated on a wide range of criteria including commitment, peer engagement, impact, complexity, innovation, and collaboration. The panel of judges includes representation from the Students’ Union, Graduate Students’ Association, faculty members and UCalgary’s chief sustainability officer and academic co-ordinator, sustainability.
The awards are presented by President Elizabeth Cannon at the annual Sustainability Awards celebration event.
