Textbook Tips

Nursing text books are really expensive, especially in first year.  You definitely need to buy Potter and Perry and a Med- Surg textbook, you will use them for clinical for all 4 years.

Check out the used book store for used copies and even old editions, sometimes the content hasn’t changed (but be careful with old editions with lots of changed content).

Another good way to save money is to share the cost with a friend by sharing books.  Swapping every week works well for some people.

You can also often sell your books back to “Sell my books” at the beginning and end of every semester, and get up to t 60 % of the book store price if they are still taking used copies.  Other wise try selling them at the used bookstore.

Another suggestion is to wait until you actually need the book for you class before buying it, because some you hardly end up using anyway, so you may be abele to share with someone or get away with out it.

At the start of the semester, the book store can be really busy and the line up can be huge!  You may want to come in the week before classes, or come the week after classes start to avoid waiting in line, or come first thing in the morning or later in the evening, when it is not as busy.
