Lab Kits

Each year you are required to purchase lab kits sold by the UNS to be used during  clinical lab days.  In first year the lab kit in required for Nursing 209 and contains materials and supplies to assist in your learning how to perform dressing changes, catheter insertions and parenteral medication administration or injections. In and second year your lab kit is required for Nursing 302 and contains materials relevant for IV medication administration, NG tube insertion and blood administration.  In nursing 406 the required lab kit contains supplies for IV initiation.  You may want to keep your lab kits and the supplies (even opened packages) after you have completed your labs because some clinical instructors require you bring you previous kits to later labs.  Unfortunately there is no way of getting around buying the lab kits.  They are mandatory for the practice components of the labs, and most instructors require you to have the complete kit sold that year.
