TOPIC
Better
Inventory management in a seasonal demand with re-adjustment and
re-optimization of replenishment parameters
Abstract:
Seasonal
demand patterns are used in number of industries such as clothing and textile,
pharmaceutical, food products, agriculture equipment manufacturing, toy
manufacturing etc. Managing the inventory and service level will be
significantly more difficult in these types of industry due to seasonal demand
patterns than the stationary demand pattern. There is a lack of literature on
the investigation of replenishment strategies in non-stationary demand
situations especially in seasonal demand situations. Seasonal demand situations
need more attention in re-adjustment of decision variables or parameters to
compensate the cyclic effects of demand. Here an issue of setting as well as
optimization of the decision variables, such as lot size and order points, in
reorder point replenishment strategies under seasonal demand are presented.
Dynamic reorder point strategy along with its potential benefits is presented.
