Olessia Mikhovitch, Manager -
Logistics Analysis
TOPIC
Abstract:
In the era of globalization and the struggle to
lower consumer prices, companies are increasingly pressured to reduce the cost
of goods sold as never before. The drive to outsource production to lower cost
countries or rationalizing the local supply chain, has meant the emergence of
sophisticated tools to help companies make supply chain decisions and realize
the promised savings. Optimization and simulation are the two main approaches
that are used for supply chain network design. Most supply chain software
companies have at least one tool in their portfolio utilizing one or both of
the approaches. Many businesses find themselves turning to these tools to
assist them in evaluating potential supply chain strategy shifts, or to
optimize their network in order to become more competitive in the market.
