University of Calgary Commuting Habits

The University of Calgary, comprising more than 33,000 students and 7,000 employees, contributes significantly to the city’s transportation demand and needs for different transportation modes. The 2020 Commuting Habits Report sheds light on commuters’ current situation travel patterns to and from the University of Calgary campuses.

Programs, incentives and resources for a sustainable commute


Bikes

  • Secure bike parking: Over 300 secure bike parking stalls available on Main Campus and at Foothills Campus with at least one bike parking location at every building.
  • Bike Root: Student-run community bicycle shop located at the University of Calgary. The workspace and tools are available to all members with the mission of empowering club members to learn the skills required to repair their bikes themselves.
  • Outdoor Centre: Bike and bike accessory rentals, bike repairs and mountain biking courses.

Shower Facilities

Shower Facilities are available in the following buildings: Child Development Centre (parkade level), Clinical Skills Building (locker rooms), Downtown Campus, Energy Environment Experiential Learning (basement level/staff access only), Kinesiology A (locker rooms) and the Taylor Institute (first floor/staff access only).

UPass Program

UPass offers discounted passes and Calgary transit Adult Ticket Books, granting unlimited access to city transit for all full-time students.
