Biography

It has been a long-term belief of mine that one of the greatest ways to learn is through the leading of others. You always have more to learn, and through teaching, you can better understand what you have missed. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to participate in many leadership positions which have helped me develop and practice the skills which I have today. Through the instruction of others, I have learned the importance of giving and respectfully taking criticism as well as leading through example rather than pure instruction. Above all, I have learned to teach from a place of equality with my students, balancing the power-positions and establishing positive communication. It is my hope that I am able to share my experiences and learn from others in the Academy.
Outside of my leadership duties, I love to spend my time in the outdoors hiking, golfing, and practicing martial arts. I also like to work on my fine arts of woodworking, music, and architectural design.
