Biography

"Change takes courage." - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

I am passionate about furthering my intellectual capacity and working with marginalized communities to reduce barriers to accessing healthcare services. My experiences growing up with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorder led me to experience social and academic difficulties within an education system and society designed for neurotypical individuals. These difficulties motivated a strong desire to reduce barriers that other marginalized communities may face. I am additionally interested in sustainability and working to expand the reach of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. I thoroughly enjoy developing my leadership skills and participating in programs that work to serve the community.

I love to read and listen to books, and am interested in a wide range of literature. I like spending time outdoors, mainly hiking and camping, and additionally like painting and making cards. I enjoy learning languages and have recently begun learning about the many intricacies of playing chess. I am highly interested in learning about political and sociological theory, and am always open to having a productive conversation regarding those topics!

In the spirit of reconciliation, I wish to acknowledge that I live, work, and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot and the Treaty 7 people, including the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations. Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
