2016 Award Recipients

As this academic year comes to an end, it is our pleasure to announce the recipients of The President’s Award for Excellence in Student Leadership for 2016. This award was established in 2008 to recognize exceptional students who have a record of academic achievement, consistently demonstrate leadership, and make significant contributions to our community.

Mark S. Lee, Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Philosophy and Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (with Distinction)


Fascinated by complex global issues, Mark wrote a paper examining political solutions to eradicate global poverty that was recognized for its innovative research contribution, and was presented widely at international conferences. Furthermore, Mark has represented the university in various business competitions across North America, winning first place in Canada’s nation-wide premier business competition.

 

As a member of the Dinos varsity track and field team, Mark captured back-to-back gold medals in the Junior Men’s Alberta Cross-Country Championships and was also a three-time recipient of the CIS Academic All-Canadian award. Mark was also a coach for the Dinos Youth Athletics program, a volunteer for the Center for Affordable Water Sanitation and Technology, and a member of the Scholars Academy. Mark will be commencing his career as an investment banking analyst in New York City.
