Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging Leaders Program was designed to get you involved in campus activities, introduce you to other students and get you comfortable with university life during your first year of study.
Become a Leader
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a perfect way to kickstart your university journey. ELP runs from September to April, and connects you to other new-to-UCalgary students and senior student volunteers in a supportive and connected community.
You’ll become part of an amazing group of first-year students as you participate in exciting online or in-person leadership workshops and socials only available to ELP students.
Mentorship or Buddy Component
We want to equip you with the best supports during a time of transition in your academic journey. As an ELP participant, you have the opportunity to shape your first-year experience by choosing to be paired with either a senior student buddy or staff member mentor as you navigate through your exciting first year at the University of Calgary.
What can I expect? Join the Emerging Leaders Program to explore your leadership potential, gain confidence on campus, and be part of a supportive community of first-year students.
How will I participate? For the fall term, ELP will be offered mainly online for you to participate from the comfort of your own computer.
Who can apply? All incoming first-year students.
When does it take place? ELP is a year-long program that runs September-April, the schedule is very flexible so you can balance it alongside your other commitments.
