Discover Co-op and Internships
Want hands-on learning? Co-op and internship programs provide valuable work experience during your degree. They're administered through individual faculties across campus.
Experiential learning for students
Experiential learning enhances a student's education and provides employers with a talented labour pool. At UCalgary, we focus on providing students with real-life hands-on experience through labs, simulations, field studies and business cases. A myriad of work placements or work-integrated learning opportunities is also available through co-op, practicum and internship programs. These work programs are co-ordinated by each respective faculty.
• Co-op students alternate periods of full-time work with their academic terms. Students are available in January, May and September for four, eight and yearly terms.
• Internship students spend twelve to sixteen consecutive months on a work term, between their third and fourth years of academic study.
• Practicums will vary in length depending on the faculty requirements.
