Heat, Cold, and Pressure Pain Thresholds following sport-related concussion

Primarily, we are looking to evaluate heat, cold, and pressure pain thresholds in individuals that have recently suffered a sport related concussion, individuals with an orthopaedic injury, and healthy control subjects. Little is known about how these sensations may change after a concussion.

Who is participating?

Individuals 13-60 years old who have sustained a sport related concussion (within the past 4 weeks).

What are participants doing?

We will use a machine that gradually increases or decreases temperature/pressure until you begin to feel pain and you press a button to stop the test. Testing will be repeated 1-3 days later and 30 days post injury (or at time of medical clearance to return to sport).
